Will the World of Obama ever become a reality?

    Posted on Oct 23, 2008

Two years ago, I decided to work on a portrait of Barack Obama. At this time in France, he was barely known as the Senator of Illinois, with almost no chance to win the Democratic presidential nomination against Hillary Clinton. His portrait was part (and still is) of a series of mixed media work (photos and drawings) I started in 2006 called: U.S Presidents (a.k.a the ‘U.S past and wanna-be Presidents’), including JFK, Al Gore, Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama (JFK, Gore, Clinton and Obama into the Sama Family). Four different portraits, each personality pictured as seen through the World of Sama glance. The portrait of Barack Obama is part of that series, and it was never meant to politically ‘support’ the Democratic candidate to the White House. But if my approach wasn’t strictly political, Obama definitely inspired me, as well as the other personalities pictured in the… READ MORE

Original Fake Kaws Cat Teeth Bank against global crisis

    Posted on Oct 11, 2008

French Prime Minister François Fillon said last week: “France has moved into an official recession“, and “The world was is on the edge of the abyss“. The U.S and major European countries are spending billions to save the banks from bankruptcy and governments desperately try to reassure their clients. Not to mention the billions of dollars the U.S (and many other countries…) already spent on the bottomless pit the War on Terror is. So much money and so many efforts for mistakes and bad decisions each individual will now have to pay for. No wonder why there is a strong ‘crisis of confidence’ in our political leaders and financial markets. It seems so easy to find billions to ‘set things right’ when it is so hard to find the money to eradicate recurring diseases, hunger and poverty for hundred of millions of people. This is how the world we live… READ MORE

de Blob: the World of Sama ain’t Chroma City!

    Posted on Oct 4, 2008

Or maybe it is… de Blob is a platform puzzle video game released on September 22 for the Wii. And for a week now, I am receiving emails from ‘friends‘ (are they, really?) telling me I should hire de Blob to restore color to the structures and inhabitants of the monochromatic Chroma City World of Sama, to ‘save them from a future without color‘. Do I look like Comrade Black? Am I an evil soldier of the monochromatic I.N.K.T. Corporation? No way! Jeez, why a black and white world couldn’t be fun? The World of Sama actually is cynicalfun, the Sama care about human beings and their life is entirely devoted to protect humans against colorsdangers. I don’t need de Blob to splash colors around and mess with the beautiful black and white World of Sama! The guy is a crazy ball of clear water, rolling and jumping every which way,… READ MORE
