da-eYe strikes the Wendy Brandes Pose — Literally

    Posted on Jan 31, 2011 | Ω 23 Comments

2011 is ‘da-year’! da-eYe is back as we can read on his website, and he wants you to know. On Dec 10th last year, the observing eye from the mid-Eighties went Barefoot Against Poverty to support the Every Human Has Rights Campaign. Now, on a totally different topic, the waggish da-eYe decided to strike the pose, the Wendy Brandes Pose to be precise. Wendy Brandes, also known as WendyB, is a talented jewelry designer, whose fine jewelry line is very popular; the Sama Gazette has mentioned her several times. Andrée Putman, The Queen of Black and White

    Posted on Jan 23, 2011 | Ω 13 Comments

Pierre Soulages, also known as ‘the painter of black’ allowed me to think in black and to assume the black color as the source of my creative process. But someone else later confirmed my black and white world could go way beyond and exists by itself in our everyday furniture; this person is Andrée Putman. I was impressed when I first saw Putman’s signature monochrome graphics she created at the Morgans Hotel… READ MORE

2011: blissful optimism and weariness, Twitter says!

    Posted on Jan 1, 2011 | Ω 26 Comments

Happy new year everyone! I guess we are going to hear those words many times again in the coming hours, days and weeks. Today is the first day of 2011 and many are already recovering from a bash that lasted until early this morning. Most of the people I know are celebrating, wishing everyone the best for the new year. Me too I hope everything will be better in 2011 but since we always hope the next year will be better than the previous one, it makes me feel a little bit desperate about how things will turn out… On December 31, 2011 we will all hope -again- than 2012 will be better than 2011. Sounds kind of crazy, isn’t it? It reminds me my post about how things are repeating themselves again and again in Darfur: when History is a never ending story… Anyway. So yesterday night, as I… READ MORE
