Today is this blog’s first anniversary — Geez! Posted on Apr 16, 2008 One year from now, same day and almost same time, I was launching this blog. Like I said in my first post, I’m not very comfortable talking about me, my personal life… But I really enjoy talking about my work, my projects, my thoughts, my sources of inspiration. And I did in near 50 posts since April last year. Waow! I impress myself, I never thought I could write so many posts (although I am surely not the most productive blogger on the Web, I can easily concede that). But most of all, I want to thank you all for your interest and your curiosity about my work. Almost 840 comments, more than 120 registered users and many regulars (not to mention the one time only misled visitors) stopping by this blog everyday and coming from the four corners of the earth. I hope you will keep reading my posts and… Will the Sama Water Tank save the world? Posted on Apr 13, 2008 The Sama from the World Of Sama, as you may know, have a duty: protect humans and sometimes plan ahead like the Sama Water Tank does. Water will soon be an issue, if not already; it is soon to be a rare commodity… The ocean noise, the constant sound of a waterfall, a fountain shooting up water, having a tub or simply drink it; water is essential for any human being to live (a human body contains 60-70% of water, 2/3 of our body weight, and without it, humans would die in a few days…) and even if in industrialized countries we just have to pull a tap or open a bottle to drink water, in some parts of the world, many people have to walk hours to get water and they come back carrying heavy water buckets. Once again, looking ‘outside our window’ should aware us about serious problems… Darfur: a World Wide Role Playing Game Posted on Feb 23, 2008 I’m not talking about the Legend of Zelda here or any other MMORPG, but about the much less dreamlike crisis in Darfur in a very specific ‘real life game genre’ I dub World Wide Role Playing Game – WWRPG. Last year I wrote an article titled: ‘Darfur: History, a never ending story’and I was wondering if we could learn from our past mistakes in a way not to let happen again things we already so badly experienced. And there is definitely no simple answer to that. Because things get more and more complicated as the number of protagonists increases. I am not a Darfur specialist or a member of a Darfur advocacy group, many very well aware and acknowledged people already talk about the situation and they give their point of view and explanations about the conflict in the Sudanese region. So I don’t pretend I understand things better than… Apple’s iPod Touch ‘Samazed’ and CES 2008 goodies Posted on Jan 11, 2008 This is my first (late?) post of 2008! I finally got a few minutes to present you my first ‘gadget’ of the year: iPhone Touch. First I wanted an iPhone like almost everyone, but since I can’t take photos with it (this is the reason why I bought my Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot K800i 3G phone, because it had a good camera), it couldn’t replace my actual phone so I decided to wait for the next iPhone generation. Until now, I used my phone to listen to music, sometimes also my Zen (Creative Labs) and/or my PSP. But the iPod Touch had it all (minus the camera, of course): the wonderful multitouch interface is exactly like on the iPhone, the 3.5-inch multitouch widescreen has a resolution of 480-by-320, there is a Wi-Fi version of the iTunes Music Store(so I can buy songs by just clicking on them) and you can use… Tall oaks from little acorns grow Posted on Dec 31, 2007 There are only a few hours left before 2008 and this year like the year before, had its good and bad times. I already talked about non-profit organizations and peace movements on this blog, we are approaching the moment of the traditional new year’s resolutions, and this is when I look back and hope the new year coming will be better than this one. I am not saying each new year is worse than the previous one, but the betterment is thin, if nonexistent. Environment has become a real issue, freedom of speech is threatened in many countries and for different reasons (I couldn’t not mention here Pakistan‘s former Prime Minister and opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, assassinated a few days ago), peace movements are put down (Burma: Aung San Suu Kyi and a thousand monks. Again.) and volunteers working for nonprofit organizations are risking their life everyday in some part… |
