‘Rendezvous’: Claude Lelouch’s insane sprint across Paris

    Posted on Jan 28, 2010

How did I forget to mention ‘Rendezvous’? I enjoy gun scenes in movies (From Scarface to Smokin’ Aces: the art of the gun scene) and also car chases in movies (Car chases in movies: Bullitt, Terminator 2, Mad Max 2…). That was two years ago, when I shared with you my favorites car chases scenes in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Thelma & Louise, The Blues Brothers, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, The French Connection, Grindhouse/Death Proof but also in The Fast and the Furious, Ronin, Taxi, Gone in 60 Seconds. And last but not least, Bullitt (Steve McQueen: Bullitt chase scene GPS tracked). In fact I didn’t really forget to mention Claude Lelouch‘s ‘Rendezvous’ short movie because it doesn’t really feature a car chase scene, although it is definitely one of the most famous motoring footage of all time. If you have never heard of this movie before, maybe… READ MORE

Steve McQueen: Bullitt chase scene GPS tracked

    Posted on Jul 13, 2008

Last February I posted an article about car chases: Car chases in movies: Bullitt, Terminator 2, Mad Max 2…. I mentioned several movies with great chase scenes like Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Thelma & Louise, The Blues Brothers, The French Connection, Grindhouse/Death Proof… And of course, Bullitt. Steve McQueendriving his Mustang GT390 at full speed in the streets of San Francisco was captivating. But as you maybe know if you carefully watched the scene (or if you know the place because you actually live in San Francisco), the chase has been often cut from one place to another although the continuity didn’t really suffer of the cuts. Knowing I like Bullitt and especially the chase scene, a friend sent me a link showing the in-movie car chase scene AND its GPS track. So you won’t miss a second of it, very cool VIDEO HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SEERO

Car chases in movies: Bullitt, Terminator 2, Mad Max 2…

    Posted on Feb 10, 2008

I have already talk about gun scenes in movies (FromScarface to Smokin’ Aces: the art of the gun scene), now it is about car chases in movies; it is not a genre but some chases are classics. In my opinion, Bullitt (1968), with Franck Bullitt chasing the bad guys, up and down the steep hills of San Francisco for almost 8 minutes, features the greatest car chase put to film. Steve McQueen’s Mustang GT390 400 horse power was impressive and the final scene when the bad guys’ Dodge Charger in a crowning moment explodes into the gas station, made the perfect conclusion for the chase (although the final running chase onto the airport tarmac amidst the air planes taking off was also very good). But it is not the first chase I remember having seen on a movie. The first one was in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). The Terminator… READ MORE
