Leonard Cohen: poetry and musicality for all of eternity Posted on Aug 17, 2009 Leonard Cohen holds an important place in my life, from an early age. I clearly remember ‘Hallelujah’ and even if at this time, I didn’t understand a word of what he was saying, I was already fascinated by Cohen’s voice. His tenor, half-octave voice perfectly fits his music and the meaning of his lyrics. That was years after ‘Hallelujah’ that I finally discovered one of the many Leonard Cohen’s talent, not to say his first and original one: poetry. And it came as no surprise since I have always been captivated by the musicality of his music. So when I got an old English version of ‘The Spice-Box of Earth’, everything was so clear. Poetry. I borrowed the book from a friend and read it all in one day. I don’t remember exactly the content but I remember this feeling I had. It was like I traveled to another dimension, another… My Moleskine, Cary Grant, some Asti Spumante and a Goldorus Posted on Aug 30, 2008 I am back from no man’s land and fully connected to the real world -again. I wish I could totally disconnect from all the bad news but it is simply impossible… Unless I lived in a cave, like a troglodyte. Anyway. I have been writing a lot those past weeks and what was once a script has become a book. I realized each scene was so detailed that it would be too frustrating to cut them because a script needs to be clear, without extra long descriptions (but mines are not as long -nor as good- as Flaubert’s ones). So I rewrote the whole thing and the script should be released as a full book, although it may change, I don’t know yet. I guess I got so inspired by my ‘retreat’ I couldn’t stop writing, the flow of ideas just kept coming… Good thing! But I didn’t spend all… My vintage orange desk and a big Sama sticker Posted on Aug 23, 2007 The 1930s were a great time for movies and design, as well as the 1950s and the 1970s. I have several furniture and objects from the Seventies, reminding me when I was a kid (along with Abba, Star Wars, flares pants…). Everything was ‘designed’, from the Maruman table cigarettes lighter (made in Japan) to the ‘Boby’ storage cart by Joe Columbo (made in Italy) in the late 60′s. Colors were fresh, orange, green, red or yellow. If you like this period, then you would probably enjoy this photo I took 2 days ago. This is the vintage desk I’m often working on, listening to Donna Summer or Leonard Cohen. There is an orange phone (I don’t use it), an orange alarm-clock (displaying the right time only once a day), an orange apple shaped ice-cube storage and some orange vinyl toys (Stereotype 04: Be My Guest, two red Rolito birds). And… |
