In my post Scarface: First and Second Impact, I explained why Scarface is one of those iconic movies that truly changed my life. I even created a “samaze” of Al Pacino as a tribute to the film (see it at the end of this post).
Following the 1932 version (directed by Howard Hawks, with a screenplay by Ben Hecht, based on the novel by Armitage Trail) and the 1983 remake (directed by Brian De Palma, with a screenplay by Oliver Stone), a third Scarface movie—long rumored—still seems to be in the works. And I have to say, I agree with Ari Shapiro’s take on it on X: ‘There are certain ideas in life which are profoundly bad and shouldn’t be explored. Remaking Scarface is one of them.‘
